Our Philosophy

Inside-Out Learning is a global consulting firm based in Arizona. We change people from the inside out with our in-person and virtual programs, helping them transform their companies with increased employee engagement, improved retention, increased promotions, and revenue growth.

Dr. Sharon Lamm-Hartman

Dr. Sharon Lamm-Hartman is Founder and CEO of Inside Out Learning, Inc. (IOL), an award‐winning global leadership, team and organization development consulting business. “Dr. Sharon” and IOL are active members of the Women’s President’s Organization (WPO). Only 3% of women-owned businesses gross the required revenue to qualify for WPO membership. IOL is certified with Women’s Business Enterprise National Council (WBENC) and Women Owned Small Business (WOSB). In addition to running IOL, Dr. Sharon is a global executive and presentation skills coach, leadership and organization development consultant, speaker, writer, educator, wife and mom. 

With over 25 years of global experience, Sharon has worked across the United States and Europe as well as Beijing, Hong Kong, Singapore, and Thailand for clients such as American Express, Virgin Orbit, GE’s Leadership Development Center, ExxonMobil, E*TRADE, ARCO Chemical, AstraZeneca, Fannie Mae, Arizona Society of CPA’s, Volvo, and the National Reconnaissance Office. She has designed and delivered over 3,000 innovative programs, including many women’s development and executive presence and presentation skills programs. Dr. Sharon has coached thousands of CEO’s, executives, educators, professionals, and entrepreneurs worldwide. She’s created and facilitated several TTT programs building a culture of leaders teaching leaders at her clients. 

 For the past 19 years, Dr. Sharon served as a preferred executive coach for hundreds of Boeing Vice Presidents and Executives with exceptional results, including promotions, developmental job assignments, and saving E‐Series. She has personally designed and is teaching the Authentic Presence and Presentation Skills Programs, and team development programs to thousands of Boeing employees. Up to 80% of employees who participate in these programs achieve a promotion. Sharon also has her Top Secret Security Clearance and helps executive clients, program teams and customer relationships in classified environments. 

She was the co‐founder and first Director of Central Phoenix Women, a networking organization for women leaders, and wrote a regular column for Phoenix Woman Magazine. Dr. Sharon holds a doctorate from Columbia University in Leadership and Organization Development, a Masters in Industrial and Labor Relations from Cornell University, and two Bachelor degrees. She also has several coaching and assessment certifications. 

Dr. Sharon has also served as an Adjunct Professor of Leadership at Columbia University and as an Adjunct Faculty member at The Center for Creative Leadership. 

Dr. Sharon has been quoted on her views of coaching in numerous publications including, The New York Times, Forbes, and Oprah’s magazine, 'O' magazine. She has been honored and received awards from the Center for Creative Leadership and the Academy of Human Resource Development for her work and research on how to facilitate transformation in leadership development programs.

Fariba Alamdari

Dr. Fariba Alamdari

Sr. Consultant

Dr. Fariba Alamdari has been a senior consultant with Inside-Out Learning Company for the past 5+ years. Fariba is one of our top IOL certified facilitators and consistently receives 5-star ratings as a facilitator and as one of our top executive coaches working with leaders to help them to establish a stronger and more impactful presence. She is frequent speaker on issues related to leadership development and the importance of diversity and inclusion. She has done a TEDx talk on the “Power of Diversity”. 

With over 20 years of experience in training as a Professor and a Dean in academia, and for nearly 14 years in the Boeing company she has gain extensive experience in both training executives and leading large organizations. She has trained executives and trainers for large aviation companies all over the world in the last 34 years. She believes in effective assessment of the needs and learning style of the trainees, clarity in objectives and material presented, skills in leading discussion, listening effectively and having emotional intelligence to keep the trainees engaged and interested. Providing concise training material, and facilitation process documentation as well as post training support are crucial parts of effective transfers of the knowledge and skills of a Training the Trainers process. 

She is a former Vice President of Marketing Strategy the Boeing Commercial Airplane Group, and Global Learning Institute for the entire Boeing Company. 

In 2006, Fariba was recruited by Boeing from Cranfield University in the UK where she served as the Chair of Department of Air Transport, and Dean of the Faculty of Engineering, Manufacturing and Science where she taught and mentored many of the industry executives of today. 

Fariba is recipient of awards including: "Ellis Island Medal of Honor“ from The National Ethnic Coalition of Organizations (NECO), “Woman of the Year” by Air Transport News, "Leadership Award” from the Centre for Women & Democracy, the “Professional Achievement Award’ from Women of Color, “Professional Practice Recognition Award” from State University of New York in, and “Sorenson Best Paper Award” for the paper on “Marketing to Female Business Travelers”. 

Currently she serves on the Advisory Board of Foster School of Business Center for Leadership & Strategic Thinking, University of Washington. She has served as the Chair of the Chancellor Advisory Board of University of Washington Bothell, and several nonprofit boards. 

Fariba received a PhD, Doctor of Science and a Master’s degree from Cranfield University in the UK. She resides in Bellevue, Washington with her husband, and has a son and a daughter.

Crystal is an expert in enhancing workforce performance and helping employees optimize their professional development. In addition to her experience as a seasoned leader, Crystal partners with State Farm, City of Phoenix, City of Chandler, Collide, NXP, and Digital Alliance to provide consulting, leadership coaching, and training services. She gives leaders the knowledge, skills, and tools necessary to recruit and retain employees by making them feel empowered and included. Crystal’s gift is engaging her clients with tools and practical results-driven solutions. Additionally, she also enjoys working with organizations and work teams to create a positive and thriving work community with a particular emphasis on retaining top talent.

Leo is an award-winning virtual trainer and work-from-home veteran.

From a newspaper editor to a virtual corporate trainer, Leo brings his design expertise to any project. He has partnered with a diverse set of industries, including pharmaceutical companies, engine manufacturers, and non-profits.

He has a master’s in digital storytelling. He is passionate about sharing his story as a trans person to help change the world. He has been published in the Huffington Post, Gannett newspapers, and Slate.

Leo recently launched his inclusivity training business, Empathy By Design, that focuses on all-gender and LGBTQ+ training.

He lives in New Jersey with his son, wife and two dogs.

James Hartman

Managing Director

James Hartman (He/Him) is a Managing Director with Inside-Out Learning, Inc. (IOL).

James has over 20 years of experience as a sales professional at The Vanguard Group, Morgan Stanley Investment Management, and Charles Schwab, where his role was to manage and develop new client relationships resulting in millions of dollars in new business. He understands the importance of authenticity and executive presence when communicating with an audience.

James brings his experience presenting to clients, prospects, corporate boards as well as larger industry organizations to IOL.  James has held various leadership roles, from being President of his Toastmaster’s Club to serving on the board of Seacrest Investment Management. He is also very involved in Boy Scouts of America and his community through the YMCA and Desert Foothills Foodbank.

In his business development role with Inside-Out Learning, James manages corporate communication and marketing strategies to develop new client relationships. As a video reviewer James shares his unique insights as a public speaker obtained as a sales professional and member of Toastmasters.

James has a BS in Management from Indiana University of Pennsylvania and an MBA in financial management from Drexel University. He is passionate about helping others express their authenticity.

James lives in Cave Creek, AZ with his amazing wife, son and a variety of domesticated and wild animals (teenager not included).

Randy Ganacias

Randy Ganacias is a Senior Consultant at Inside-Out Learning (IOL).

Since 2014, Randy has managed the technical and video production of IOL programs. He also assists in the development of presentations and pitches for leaders in aerospace, healthcare, and higher education with a list of thousands of leaders over the past 20 years. A recent consultation assisted in a contract award of over 300M.

Randy is also a product developer and inventor. His focus is always on the outcome and experience, whether it’s a consumer, decision-maker, or investor, his work and guidance reflects his empathetic, customer-centric approach.

Samantha Ray most recently served as the Chief Operating Officer for an emerging training and development start-up where she was responsible for day-to day-business operations, implementing organization-wide goal setting, and driving rapid and sustainable growth to advance the companies vision of lifting people up and bringing them together in the spirit of happiness and love using the highest-caliber research on human well-being.

Prior to this position, Samantha retired after serving 30 years in the United States Air Force where she was a colonel and led a 3,400-member organization performing 24-hour, 365-day operations and maintenance of a multibillion-dollar information technology and communications infrastructure. She directed communications supporting the Intelligence Community, Department of Defense, and commercial space launch events ultimately providing exquisite space reconnaissance to the President, the National Security Council and Commanders engaged in combat operations.

Samantha holds a Master of Science Degree in National Security Studies from the National War College. She has four children: Kyle, Joshua, Madison, Kimberly and lives in Alexandria, VA.

Carlos is a senior consultant for Inside-Out Learning, where he helps his clients to develop and deliver innovative learning and execution journeys that transform and drive business to a new level of performance. He started about 30 years ago in the Project Management and Process Improvement practices of Accenture in Colombia. He also worked for Citibank in Colombia and the United States, responsible for quality and productivity initiatives being rolled out in both the Consumer and Corporate franchises across Latin America.

After his MBA, he worked for BTS, a leading Executive Development and Strategy Implementation firm.  

He was born and raised in Colombia, and is fluent in both Spanish and English. Carlos has a deep understanding of the cultural nuances and business practices of both Latin America and North America. He earned his MBA from Columbia Business School in 2004 and also holds a BA in Business from Universidad del Rosario in Bogotá, Colombia, as well as a Postgraduate Diploma in International Business from Universidad Externado, also in Bogotá. His educational background, combined with his extensive work experience in various industries, has made him a highly sought-after consultant for companies across Aerospace/Defense, Financial Services, IT/Telecom, Professional Services, and FMCG.

Col (ret) Ernesto (Ernie) Benavides is an effective bi-lingual leader and program manager with more than 30 years of experience in acquisition and operations of space and missile systems.

Ernie has extensive acquisition experience in all phases of satellite systems acquisition and operations experience in satellite command and control and launch and integration. He is an outstanding communicator and an effective builder and organizer of large Government and industry teams.

Prior to retiring from the United States Air Force in 2013, Ernie successfully led a $15 billion satellite program of national significance from the brink of cancellation to two successful on-time launches and fault-free operations. Ernie has a unique strategic perspective of the Department of Defense and the Intelligence Community gained as the Military Assistant to the Undersecretary of the Air Force, the Director of the National Reconnaissance Office, and the Executive Agent for Space.

He also has a deep and broad understanding of space operations. He was Squadron Commander for a constellation of more than a dozen reconnaissance and communications satellites where his Squadron was responsible for Mission Planning, Command and Control, and Mission Engineering. Ernie was the project manager for the Ultra High Frequency (UHF) operational payload and the Command-and-Control Center on the Geosynchronous Lightweight Technology Experiment (GeoLITE) program, which successfully demonstrated the technical and operational feasibility of laser communications.

Ernie also contributed to the successful demonstration of the Global Broadcast Service (GBS) concept with innovative use of commercial and residual space assets. He is the recipient of the Jimmy Hill Leadership Award from the National Military Intelligence Association; the Dr. Joseph V. Charyk Award from the National Space Club; and the Intelligence Community Major System Acquisition Program Manager of the Year from the Director of National Intelligence.

Ursula English is currently a business consultant, executive coach, and personal development mentor focused on enabling win-win-win solutions across the spectrum.

English recently retired from The Boeing Company where she held a number of executive roles across Boeing’s commercial, defense, and services businesses. Her career culminated in leading manufacturing, safety and quality for Boeing Defense, Space, and Security (BDS). In this role, she led almost 7,000 employees and managed a global portfolio that included more than 20 product platforms across 27 different facilities.

Previously she served as vice president of Boeing Environment, Health & Safety, where she led Boeing’s workplace safety and environmental sustainability efforts. During her tenure, workplace injuries decreased by 40 percent and greenhouse gas emissions decreased by 17 percent, while production increased by 25 percent during the same timeframe. Under her leadership, Boeing was awarded the National Safety Council’s Green Cross for Innovation in 2017 and the Robert W. Campbell Award for Safety Excellence in 2018.

English began her career in 1988 as an aircraft mechanic on the MD-80 aircraft program after honorably serving in the U.S. Air Force as a jet engine mechanic. While working at Boeing she earned a bachelor's degree in business and management from Azusa Pacific University and a master's degree in human services from Springfield College. She also holds a Federal Aviation Administration airframe and power plant license.

Ursula is the recipient of the Women of Color STEM Award, and served as executive vice president for the 13,000-member Boeing Leadership Network. English has a lifelong passion for empowering teams and developing employees. She initiated and led an employee development group that supported hundreds of rising leaders, and championed more thoughtful and strategic decision-making.

Bridgett McGowen is a Senior Consultant and Co-facilitator for Inside-Out Learning (IOL).

Over the past 20 years Phillip has worked with a vast array of businesses from start-ups, SMBs and fortune 500.  Phillip is also the co-creator of ThriveTime for Teens, a finance and life-skills reality board game and host of the online show “Book of the Week”.

Marsha has been a Senior Consultant with IOL for over 9 years and is our lead facilitator of our Authenticity Code programs across our clients. She consistently receives 5-star ratings and participants adore her sense of humor as she makes every program fun and engaging. She is also an IOL executive coach and offsite facilitator. She is responsible for training and evaluating new facilitators at IOL and has also taught train the trainer programs with Fred Pryor Seminars. Marsha has over 30 years’ experience serving as an executive and served as board member of Fortune 500 companies. As a former corporate executive, she has applied her extensive corporate background in the speaking industry and as an executive coach and trainer. 

As the Executive Vice President of Westinghouse Financial Services/American Directory project, she worked on projects that helped companies succeed financially. Her ability to train and facilitate employees and executive teams in reaching corporate goals helped organizations achieve maximum results. Her positions have taken her to South Africa, New Zealand, Australia, Europe, Mexico, Canada and every state in the U.S.A. Over the past 30+ years, Dr. Shapiro had many interesting and challenging experiences, including being an Assistant professor at UCLA and held numerous positions at The Boeing Company during her tenure. At Boeing, she assisted in winning the C-17 aircrew training proposal, worked in the Quality and Business areas and led Flight Operations, Accident Investigations and Safety for several years. She ended her Boeing career as Director of Human Resources for the Satellite business. In addition to Human Resources, she was an assistant to the President of Network and Space Systems.

Prior to joining IOL, during his military and civilian career, he has had the opportunity to garner thousands of hours in classroom, military drill, field training instruction and facilitation. He has trained five newly inducted instructors in a train-the-trainer (TTT) program lasting a period of 90-days each which consisted of field facilitation, classroom instruction, and military operations training. He has also prepared 30 academic instructors in a two-week trainer program to teach students who arrived for military indoctrination. He was hand selected from a pool of 500 instructors to help build the train the trainer program to consolidate three different programs to maximize instructor effectiveness during manning shortages. As a Quality Assurance Manager, Nicholas was responsible for the upkeep of all training programs, product inspections, On-the-Job record review, as well as certifications. 

Nicholas has coached diverse teams to break through obstacles, improve communication, close the gap on workplace issues, and help individuals identify blind spots for self-improvement.
