THE CHIEF OPERATING OFFICER OPPORTUNITY:
With a strong foundation built on a quarter-century track record of delivering evidence-based results to its clients, IOL seeks a seasoned and highly strategic Chief Operating Officer (COO) to provide leadership to IOL’s staff team, diverse family of consultants who are trained to provide IOL’s offerings to its clients, and key aspects of internal as well as client-facing external operational systems. Reporting to the CEO, the COO will have a take charge attitude and be comfortable providing day to day leadership and management integration across all aspects of the organization, with specific areas of focus that include:
- Leadership – The COO will provide leadership of all aspects of team communications and interactions, display attention to detail and effective time management, promote camaraderie with patience and understanding, and coach individual employees to grow as professionals. The COO will help set the standard and expectations across the organization for excellence and must be able to translate the importance of operational activities across functional areas to achieving high performance.
- Program and Project Management Experience – Applying knowledge of all key aspects of program and project management, the COO will proactively assure all the internal and external operational dots are connected in a timely and effective manner and that deadlines are met while minimizing uncertainty and impediments to high performance.
- Customer Relations Management (CRM) Experience – Displaying experience and understanding of the relationship among key external-facing customer relations activities, the COO will assume management responsibility for coordinating IOL’s marketing, proposals, pricing, contracting and contract schedules/scopes of work, invoicing, and related endeavors, and the processes and tools used in performing these functions, in partnership with other team members as appropriate to each function.

- Progressive senior-level leadership experience with a proven track record of successfully leading and managing highly performing teams efficiently and effectively.
- Ability to cultivate and steward individual consultants in their work in delivering IOL program offerings with enthusiasm and fidelity.
- Dynamic and persuasive communication skills that extend trust to the team by setting clear priorities for, delegating to, and inspiring high performance by the team consistent with the organization’s mission and brand promise.
- Demonstrated experience in understanding and continuously improving business systems and processes relating to programs and project management and customer relations.
- An empathetic, inclusive, and transparent management style that balances trust and accountability; encourages and empowers professional growth and development of the team; and a track record of recruiting and retaining a strong and diverse team by fostering a diverse, equitable and inclusive environment.
LOCATION AND TRAVEL:
IOL is open to candidates from the Metropolitan Phoenix area as well as other locations in the United States that provide a good base for travel.
Candidates will need to be open to limited travel to Arizona if based outside the state, and occasional travel to other locations.
